Georgia's successful recruitment of five-star running back Kemon Spell might be the most significant recruiting news of the season so far, and for the Bulldogs it could have a lasting effect on the ceiling of their 2027 class.

Elite cornerback Donte Wright is committed to the Dawgs and is excited about the class adding another top-end blue-chip prospect. Wright has suggested that he wants to play with Spell and during a stretch when Oregon and Miami are challenging Wright's pledge, this could prove to be a game changer.

Kemon Spell commitment could be the key to keeping Donte Wright

It's no surprise that two elite prospects, like Spell and Wright, would grow a bond. The top guys are often interacting and competing against each other on the camp circuit and that's the stuff we see. What we don't often see if the time they get to hang out with camp is not in session. They talk about football, they talk about their other interests, they play video games together. And over the course of camp season, these top prospects see each other all the time. Now add in the advances in communication and social media, etc.. This is where friendships are cultivated.

So I have no doubt that Spell and Wright have talked extensively and shared stories about their experiences on the trail. And in the process of those conversations, they've talked about playing together at the next level and leading a program like Georgia to the SEC and CFP championships. Wright has previously said that part of the reason he committed to the Bulldogs was the opportunity to play with the best players.

"I feel like I'm the best in my class, so why not go play with the best? I feel like the SEC is the best league to go show your talents and make it to the league," Wright told 247Sports. "So that's my ultimate goal is to get to the next level for sure," Wright said. "My commitment is still strong. There are other schools that I talk to, but my commitment is still strong."
