Georgia football continues to sit with just one running back committed to their 2026 recruiting class. That is one less than UGA hopes to end up with at the end of the 2026 recruiting cycle, and if Georgia has their way they’ll flip four-star running back Amari Latimer before it’s all said and done.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Latimer is the No. 306 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 20 running back in the 2026 class and the No. 36 overall player from the state of Georgia.

Latimer has been committed to Wisconsin since June 28, but a recent interview shows that Latimer knows how badly UGA wants him in their class.

"They definitely are trying to take two backs. They're telling me I'm the one they want."

Not only did Georgia tell Latimer he’s the one they want, they even told him that there will always be a spot for him at Georgia.

“Their message to me was just I’ll always have a home at Georgia.”

Georgia is hoping for better luck with 4-star Amari Latimer

Georgia’s top remaining target at running back was five-star Derrek Cooper. Unfortunately Cooper announced his commitment to Texas over Georgia this past Sunday.

This means that Kirby Smart and his staff had to act fast to decide who their next running back target would be. And what better choice then to start aggressively pursuing a four-star from their backyard.

The above report indicates that Latimer has a few other schools still recruiting him as well. This means that Georgia’s competition for Latimer is stiff, but the most important thing is that this means he might be more willing to ditch Wisconsin and flip to a new school.

And if that is true, Georgia fans should love their chances considering he is from the Peach State and is being heavily pursued by the Georgia coaching staff.
