Recruiting is arguably the most important thing for Georgia football's program. Without good recruiting Georgia will never be able to win the SEC, College Football Playoff or even be a respectable team in the SEC.
Thankfully Georgia has been one of the best teams at recruiting since Kirby Smart was hired a decade ago. But he can't do it by himself. Every single person on his staff plays in important role to put Georgia in position to win football games each football.
That recruiting success begins with the Bulldogs' director of scouting, and Georgia just announced that former Miami (OH) director of scouting will be taking on that new role.

Georgia's new hire could take their recruiting to another level
Georgia added a few new coaches to their coaching staff this offseason. All of those additions are people that will have a direct impact on the field, but hiring Davenport accomplishes something completely different.
She will be responsible for helping Georgia on the recruiting trail when it comes to setting up visits with recruits. She won't be doing any actual recruiting per se, but she will have direct contact with every recruit visiting. So while the coaches will be the ones convincing players to come play for Georgia, her impact will be felt just as much when she welcomes each visiting recruit to Athens.
Recruiting at a high level is a team game. Smart will always get the most credit when things go well or have to answer the most questions if things go poorly. Then there are his assistants who obviously have a huge impact on Georgia's recruiting success as well. But Davenport and her entire staff play an equally important role.
No recruit will want to commit to Georgia if they aren't treated well during their visit, so someone in her role can make or break a recruitment. And based on her pedigree it looks like Georgia will continue to be spoiled on the recruiting trail.
