Georgia football has made a major scheduling change ahead of the 2027 and 2028 seasons. It obviously won't affect the coming season, but it does have some implications down the line.
The Bulldogs announced Thursday that they had mutually agreed to cancel their home-and-home series against the Florida State Seminoles.
The program released a statement to address the news, indicating that just because this home-and-home series was canceled, does not mean the two programs will not face each other any time soon.
"The University of Georgia and Florida State University have mutually agreed to cancel the schools’ home-and-home series scheduled for 2027 and 2028."
The only difference is that it appears the matchup will not be played on either of their home turf.
"The Bulldogs and Seminoles are now working towards determining a plan for a neutral site matchup in the near future," the statement continued.
“Georgia and Florida State have mutually agreed it is in the best interest of both schools to cancel our home-and-home series scheduled for 2027 and 2028, with the focus shifting to a future neutral site contest between the two programs,” Georgia’s J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks said. “While we are still early in the process regarding neutral site plans, we remain optimistic and look forward to further conversations with Florida State.”
Georgia football 2026 schedule looking much different
Georgia will open the season with a contest that should be an absolute cakewalk in Sanford Stadium against Tennessee State on Sept. 5. The Bulldogs will head into SEC action in Week 3 against an Arkansas team that should not be difficult to beat.
The thick of it begins on Oct. 10 when Georgia heads into a gauntlet that includes Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Ole Miss all in a row. The Bulldogs only catch a break with an open date that falls on Oct. 24, just after the Auburn game.

Georgia football 2026 projections
The win projections and game-by-game score predictions for Georgia's upcoming season vary greatly, which isn't exactly an anomaly when it comes to preseason things of this nature.
But, most of them do have Georgia winning nine or 10 of its games. Spenser Davis of Saturday Down South refers to the Bulldogs' schedule as "Georgia-friendly", but sees it as difficult at the same time.
"When I call this schedule Georgia-friendly, I don’t mean to say it’s easy," he wrote. "The Bulldogs will be playing 9 SEC games for the first time plus a rivalry game against Georgia Tech. But none of the toughest games on this schedule look like particularly bad matchups for the Bulldogs... you won’t find a better team to bet on as a heavy favorite than Georgia during the (Kirby) Smart era."
