Georgia football has identified one of their top linebacker targets in the 2027 recruiting class. That player is Quinton Cypher, who is a four-star recruit according to 247Sports.

Cypher has heard from Kirby Smart and Georgia a lot already throughout his recruitment, and it is pretty clear that he is buying what Georgia is selling.

“As a linebacker, their development is different—three of the last 10 Butkus Award winners came from Georgia.”

Georgia's impressive run at linebacker is catching Quinton Cypher's eye

Nobody is better at developing linebackers over the last 10 years than Georgia. In fact, the Bulldogs have had three Butkus Award winners during Smart's tenure so far at UGA. This is an award that goes to the nation's best linebacker at the end of every season, and it appears that feat is really standing out to Cypher.

According to Rivals' Jed May, Georgia is an early favorite to land Cypher. That really doesn't mean all that much this early in his recruitment, but the fact that Cypher plans to travel to Athens all the way from North Carolina twice this fall shows just how interested in UGA Cypher is.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Cypher is the No. 136 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 10 linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 6 overall player from his home state of North Carolina.

No predictions have been made in Cypher's recruitment yet, but he holds 26 total offers from some impressive programs. This includes Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Penn State. Based on that alone, this clearly will be a challenging recruitment to win.

But as it stands today, Georgia is one of the early leaders in Cypher's recruitment, and they are going to have a great chance to impress him this fall when he comes to Georgia twice this season.
