Georgia football is continuing their pursuit of four-star ATH Tyriq Green, who projects to play safety in college. The Bulldogs were one of three schools to host Green on an official visit this June as Auburn and Miami (FL) also hosted Green as well.

Georgia already has three safeties committed to their 2026 recruiting class, so some might think that they are done adding safeties to this class. That however is not the case according to Dawg Post insider Matt DeBary, who is feeling good about Georgia's chances with Green's commitment date quickly approaching.

"The Bulldogs already have three safeties on the commit list, but Green isn’t a guy the Georgia staff is turning down," Matt DeBary shared via dawgpost.com. "They’ve recruited him for years and sources say they would welcome him with a giant smile on their face if he decides to jump on board. This second, we like Georgia’s chances."

Georgia closing in on commitment from 4-star safety

According to the above statement from DeBary, Georgia is the favorite just days away from Green's commitment. Green's commitment is scheduled for July 12, so in one week Georgia fans will learn if they will win this recruitment or not.

July 12 is turning into a massive day for the program. Not only is Green announcing his commitment on this day, but so too is five-star tight end Kaide Prothro. Georgia is expected to win that recruitment as well, so July 12 could be one of the biggest days of the summer for the Bulldogs.

However, Debary did not make it seem like Georgia was the overwhelming favortie in Green's recruitment. At best it seems like UGA is a very small lead, so hopefullyf the Bulldogs can hold onto that lead and win this recruitment over some big name programs.
