After losing one of their top commits in the 2026 recruiting class, Georgia football is in desperate need of some momentum. The only place that momentum could come from is a commitment, but none of Georgia’s top targets are expected to announce a commitment anytime soon.

But that doesn’t mean the Bulldogs can’t get good news in other ways. One way that UGA could still build some momentum is by receiving a prediction to land a top player in the country.

And that is exactly what happened with star offensive lineman PJ Dean.

4-star IOL PJ Dean

Dean is a four-star offensive lineman from Clemmons, NC. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Clemmons is the No. 50 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 3 offensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 5 player from North Carolina.

Very little public information is known about the specifics of Dean's recruitment, but On3 did update who their leader is in his recruitment. And On3 named Georgia the new leader, giving them a 50 percent chance to win this recruitment.

Not too far behind the Bulldogs is South Carolina, who appear to be Georgia's greatest competition right now as they are given a 29.4 percent chance to win this recruitment. After the Gamecocks there really isn't another team with a great chance to win this recruitment, so the battle for Dean could be coming down to Georgia and South Carolina.

Time will tell how this recruitment plays out, but it appears Georgia and Kirby Smart are in a great position right now. And the fact that this update came for an offensive lineman is massive because everyone knows how important a dominant offensive line is to having an elite football team.

So stay tuned as recruiting is very fluid and another big update could come at any point.
