With revenue sharing now at the forefront of college sports, there is a lot of talk about how much each football program is spending this season. Schools get to decide how they spend their $20 million of revenue sharing money, whether it all goes to football and basketball, or it truly gets spread around to each sport.
For the sake of this article, the focus will remain on college football. On3's Pete Nakos released a survey showing the Top 10 highest spending football programs this season, and for once, Georgia did not find itself on a list. Georgia actually is outside of the Top 10 highest spending programs, and honestly, that may not be such a. bad thing for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
It was reported that Georgia was going to share 75% of its revenue with the football program, which gives them about $13.5 million that they are currently giving out. So, to think that doesn't even put them in the top 10 makes one wonder how much other programs are offering.
Looking at Michigan, for example, they reportedly gave freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood a $10 million NIL package in order to get his commitment. The school that tops the list comes as no surprise, with the Texas Longhorns leading the way. The Longhorns are known to put out a lot of NIL money for incoming athletes, and they probably just gave a huge package to 5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson to lure him away from Georgia.

More money just means more problems
With Smart currently spending less money right now, that leaves money for prospects still looking to commit to a program and later sign. By not being in this Top 10, it shows that Smart is being careful with his NIL packages, so as not to use them all on just a few recruits.
Programs have to be careful with the revenue sharing now, as there are still many unknowns to it all, but as of right now, Georgia seems to be in the green zone of it all, even with a bit more money to play with right now.
