Georgia football had arguably their biggest visit of the year take place this weekend as five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell was in Athens. Cantwell not only is the No. 1 tackle in the country, but he is the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class as well.
Cantwell is down to four schools which includes Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon and Miami (FL). He also has a commitment date set for May 13, which was pushed back two weeks so he could make one final visit to Athens which began on May 10.
On top of Cantwell visiting Georgia, recent five-star quarterback commit Jared Curtis was in town as well to help convince Cantwell that Georgia is the place to be. And it turns out that this weekend went exactly as every Georgia football fan hoped because Cantwell was just predicted by 247Sports to commit to Georgia.
#Georgia just received a prediction for 5-star OT Jackson Cantwell by Benjamin Wolk of 247Sports. 🐶

Jackson Cantwell predicted to commit to Georgia
Three teams still had a realistc chance of winning Cantwell's recruitment heading into this weekend visit to Georgia. Oregon just hosted Cantwell on an official visit and there were many reports that this trip went extremely well. On top of that, Miami had a lot of confidence in their chances as well because they have the highest NIL offer on the table and were favored by 247Sports to win as well.
But that no longer is the case because 247Sports now has Georgia as the team to beat, which matches what On3 has been saying for a few weeks now.
UGA fans still have to wait a few more days for an official announcement from Cantwell as he will announce his commitment on May 13, but all signs are pointing towards UGA receiving great news. So in a matter of a few days, Georgia could potentially have the No. 1 quarterback and No. 1 overall player in the country in their recruiting class.
Now that sounds pretty amazing.
