Kirby Smart has Georgia positioned as a program that does not need to use the Transfer Portal. Sure there are some positions every offseason where adding a player or two would be helpful, but overall Georgia doesn't rely on the portal like other programs do.

Right now Georgia is devoting most of their attention on their preparations for the College Football Playoff. However, they already have a few players they are pursuing in the portal, and that includes LSU offensive lineman Carius Curne.

Georgia listed as a team to watch for star LSU transfer

Curne is an elite offensive lineman who just wrapped up his first season at LSU. Playing on the offensive line as a true freshman in the SEC is one of the hardest things to do in college football, but that is what he did as he was a regular reserve for the Tigers this season.

Out of high school Curne was one of the top offensive linemen in the country. Acording to 247Sports he was the No. 67 overall player in the country and the No. 3 interior offensive linemen. He was also the top ranked player from the state of Arkansas as well.

After a not so great season for LSU that included head coach Brian Kelly being fired, Curne has decided to enter the Transfer Portal. He is a player that will get a lot of attention from some of the top programs in the country, and at this point that includes Georgia.

The good news is that Georgia is getting in early on his portal recruitment so hopefully that will help them separate themselves from the rest of the pack. But this is a name every Georgia fan should watch closely because UGA could always use more elite linemen like Curne.

But first thing's first, Georgia needs to go win the College Football Playoff and maybe that will help attract a player like Curne to come to Athens.
