Georgia basketball needed a win desperately. After losing five of their last six games they were sitting firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble, potentially on the outside looking in. And with a trip to Kentucky up next it was looking like Georgia was going to suffer yet another loss.
Georgia however showed up and took down Kentucky and their $22 million roster even after being predicted to lose by 7.5 points.

Georgia doesn't care about Kentucky's NIL money
Since NIL began in college athletics people have assumed that the more money a team has the better they will be. Kentucky areguably has more NIL money than anyone as they spent $22 million on this year's roster alone. That however didn't matter to Georgia as they flexed their muscles all night long en route to an 86-78 victory.
This win snaps a two game losing streak and is the first time they have won at Kentucky since 2009.
Leading the way for Georgia was Blue Cain who poured in 20 points. Jeremiah Wilkinson, who is back from injury, added 19 points of his own off the bench. Somto Cyril and Marcus Millender also scored 14 points each as well.
While winning at Kentucky will always look good on Georgia's resume, the Wildcats haven't had a very good season this year. So what would typically be a win that would guarantee an NCAA Tournament appearence only slightly improves their resume. However, a loss would've been detrimental to their resume, so this win still goes a long way in making the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
Up next for Georgia is a home date with Texas on Saturday. Georgia has already lost to the Longhorns once this season by 20 points, so this clearly will not be an easy game. But this is yet another game that feels like a must win if Georgia is going to make the NCAA Tournament.
