Georgia football is gearing up for what should be the most exciting College Football Playoff the college football world has ever seen.
With the CFP's expansion to 12 teams, that means we now have eight more teams and eight more games that we get to watch this postseason. That also means debating which teams and players are the best out of the CFP teams is that much more difficult to do.
But that is exactly what a prominent social media account "College Football Report" attempted to do when they released their rankings of the top starting running backs from the 12 CFP teams.
Georgia RB Trevor Etienne completely disrespected
According to these rankings, Georgia running back Trevor Etienne was ranked the No. 10 running back out of all the starting running backs in the College Football Playoff. All Georgia fans will likely agree that this ranking is beyond ridiculous.
No UGA fan will be bold enough to say that Etienne is the best running back in the country, that spot definitely belongs to Boise State's Ashton Jeanty, but Etienne should be much higher than No. 10.
So far this season, Etienne has recorded 111 carries for 571 yards and nine touchdows. This includes two massive touchdowns in Georgia's upset victory over Texas in the SEC Championship game. On top of these rushing stats, Etienne also added 28 receptions for an additional 168 yards. So it is clear that he is an all around back for Georgia, and a very good one at that.
Now these stats are lower than most of the playes on this list, but that is solely because of the injury Etienne had to work through this season. Etienne injured his ribs during the Florida game, and after trying to play the following week against Ole Miss he ended up missing the rest of the regular season. So he missed Georgia's final three games, as well as their season opener against Clemson. So this social media site is likely forgetting that Etienne missed a third of the season, and is punishing him in their rankings because of that.
Hopefully this gives Kirby Smart and Etienne a little extra motivation heading into the CFP, because in the minds of Georgia fans, this ranking is extremely disrespectful.
