Champ Bailey is one of the all time Georgia football greats. He was a dominant force in the Bulldogs' secondary for his entire career, and after an even better NFL career he was eventually inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Bailey has a son Brayden who also plays defensive back. He is a member of the 2028 recruiting class so it is almost time for his recruitment to ramp up, the only problem is that South Carolina is getting off to a head start in his recruitment.
South Carolina offers son of Georgia football legend Champ Bailey
South Carolina reportedly offered Bailey a scholarship on March 18. This is Bailey's first big time offer so far as he has only been offered by Group of Five schools or small Power Four programs. Georgia is yet to offer Bailey, but that could change soon.
South Carolina isn't a traditional rival of Georgia, but over the next few years they will be. The Gamecocks are one of three schools that Georgia will face each season under the SEC's new schedule format, so UGA and South Carolina will become very familiar with each other in a hurry.
It would be quite strange to see Bailey play against Georgia. His father, as mentioned, is one of the greatest Bulldogs of all time, so seeing his son line up against Georgia would be very weird. But so far that is the most likely outcome because Kirby Smart has not offered him yet.
The 2028 class rankings have not come out yet, so it is unclear how good Bailey is relative to the rest of the recruits his age. Those rankings will come out soon though, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
But it will be even more interesting to see if Georgia offers him and if Bailey will follow in his father's footsteps.
