At one point this recruiting cycle, Georgia football's 2025 recruiting class was No. 1 in the country according to 247Sports. In fact, they held that title for quite some time, but unfortunately they tumbled down the rankings once signing day arrived in the beginning of December.
Georgia fell from No. 1 to No. 4 on 247Sports during signing day. This may not seem like that big of a deal because signing the No. 4 class is still very strong, but expectations are much higher than that for Kirby Smart's program. Georgia fans expect UGA to finish with the No. 1 recruiting class every year, and while those expectations may sound a little crazy, Smart and his staff likely have those same expectations for themselves.
So anything less than No. 1 is a disappointment. However, 247Sports released their final rankings update on Wednesday and Georgia saw their position in the 247Sports overall team rankings greatly improve.
Georgia finished No. 2 in the team recruiting rankings
Georgia football's 2025 recruiting class officially finished as the No. 2 class in the country. They also are the No. 2 class in the SEC as Texas is the program with the nation's highest ranked class. Rounding out the top five is Ohio State at No. 3, Alabama at No. 4 and Oregon at No. 5.
Georgia football's 2025 recruiting class highlights
Georgia's 2025 class consists of three five-star players including defensive lineman Elijah Griffin, EDGE Isaiah Gibson and linebacker Zayden Walker. No other program in the country has more than three five-stars players in their recruiting class, so UGA leads the country in that department.
The Bulldogs also had 14 players finish inside of 247Sports' top 250 rankings as well. This is exactly half of Georgia's 28 total commits, which is a very impressive percentage.
Many of these players will have a great chance to contribute on the field for Georgia during the 2025 season, which is extremely exciting to think about. Many of Georgia's best players in recent history all played during their true freshman seasons, so those players that get called on early likely will turn into elite players by the time their careers end.
