Georgia football has entered the home stretch of their 2025 season, and they have their sites set on the College Football Playoff. While Georgia unfortunately does not control their own destiny to make the SEC Championship game, they do have complete control of if they make the CFP or not.
The Bulldogs are the No. 5 team in the country right now which would force them to play a first round game in te CFP. But nobody wants that, Georgia would much prefer to get a bye to the quarterfinals so they have one less game they need to win in order to win a National Championship.
It may seem like a long shot to get into the top four since the four teams ranked above Georgia are all playing extremely well right now. But the path to get a top four seed is actually quite simple.
Georgia's perfect College Football Playoff draw is easy to attain
If Georgia's sole goal is to earn a top four seed, then all they need to do is win out and hope they miss the SEC Championship game. Missing the SEC title game would mean that Texas A&M and Alabama also win out and stay above Georgia in the rankings, but they would then meet in Atlanta giving one team a loss. That team more than likely would drop below Georgia in the final rankings and move UGA into the top four.
The same scenario could play out in the Big Ten as well as No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana would battle for their conference's championship. The loser of that game could also fall below Georgia in the final CFP rankings as well.
So not only would Georgia get an extra week of rest from not having to play in the SEC Championship game, but they could get a first round bye as well.
A lot of Georgia fans probably still want to win the SEC again this year. So if that's the case it is still a win-win scenario. Either Georgia wins out, misses the SEC Championship game and ends up with a top four seed, or Georgia makes it to Atlanta and gets to play for a conference championship while already having a spot in the CFP field locked in.
The possibilities are endless for Georgia, but the best draw possible for UGA is actually quite simple for them to attain.
