There are a few recruitments every year that always feel like Georgia will win. Sometimes it’s because that player grew up a Georgia fan and other times they are very clear early on how much they love Georgia.
With three-star offensive lineman Reis Russell though it’s a little different. Russell is from Colorado and did not grow up a Georgia fan. He also hasn’t publicly praised UGA throughout his recruitment either. But he has a direct connection to the program in new offensive line coach Paul Rauscher who he has known for 10 years.
And it’s that fact alone that could eventually lead to a commitment to Georgia.
There’s a lot to like about this young Colorado IOL.

Not to mention the fact he’s known Coach Rauscher for more than 10 years. https://t.co/NP1ueHkW78
Georgia’s advantage in Reis Russell’s recruitment can’t be overstated
Rauscher was added to Georgia’s staff in January of this year. While he has only been in Athens for a few months, his impact is already being felt in multiple ways.
Georgia’s current offensive line is already praising him for the amazing job he has done so far. He has already earned all of their respect and has helped them improve this spring, and at this point that is all anyone can really ask for.
His impact is also being felt on the recruiting trail as well, and his connection with Russell could help the Bulldogs land the talented offensive lineman.
Miami and Washington are Georgia’s biggest competition according to 247Sports. But Georgia has a chance to earn a commitment in the next week thanks to the fact that he will be officially visiting Athens this weekend on April 17. Official visits typically never happen this early, so Georgia could use this to their advantage and win his recruitment before he visits anywhere else.
It’s unclear if that will actually happen or not, but this is a recruitment Georgia should be feeling really good about.
