Georgia's loss to Alabama stung. Every UGA fan thought this would be the year they'd be able to finally overcome the Crimson Tide and show that they are able to beat them for a second time under Kirby Smart. But unfortunately UGA loss which knocked the Bulldogs to 1-7 against Alabama during Smart's tenure.
While this loss to Alabama does hurt, it's not the end of the world because it doesn't end their season. In year's past an early season loss would pretty much eliminate any chance Georgia had at winning an SEC or National Championship, but thanks to the expanded College Football Playoff that is not the case anymore.
But even though Georgia still has all of their goals in front of them, this loss to Alabama creates a huge problem going forward because UGA can't afford to lose another game anytime soon.
Georgia won't be able to sustain another loss
While this one loss did not end Georgia's season, it does put them in a position where one more loss could end their season. It is worth mentioning that Georgia went 10-2 last season and still made the SEC Championship game and College Football Playoff, but there is no guarantee that would occur this year.
The only way that UGA can ensure they make it to Atlanta and the CFP is by winning out, and that won't be an easy task. Georgia still has home games against Ole Miss and Texas where they could drop a game as well as a road date with Auburn and a neutral site contest against Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs likely could afford one more loss to any of those teams, but that would put their fate in other team's hands.
The only way Georgia can control their own destiny is by winning out, and that will not be easy based on what the Bulldogs have shown so far this season.
