Georgia football is yet to make much progress in the 2027 recruiting class with any of their quarterback targets. Thursday however gave UGA a chance to earn a commitment from four-star QB Teddy Jarrard, who is the Bulldogs No. 1 target at QB.

Unfortunately Jarrard announced his commitment to Notre Dame over Georgia, Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State on Thursday.

Georgia misses on No. 1 QB from the Peach State

According to Rivals, Jarrard is the No. 2 quarterback in the country. On top of his impressive ranking, Jarrard is also from the state of Georgia as well. Whenever there is that talented of a player from the Peach State it is usually assumed that Georgia will be very interested, and that was most certainly the case with Jarrard.

Georgia's pursuit of Jarrard however wasn't good enough as he is heading north to play for the Irish.

The good news is that the 2027 recruiting cycle still has a year and a half to go, so there is a chance that Jarrard could change his mind and continue letting other programs recruit him. That does seem like a long shot at this point, but anything is possible.

At this point it is unclear who Georgia's remaining quarterback targets are in the 2027 class. Thankfully Kirby Smart and his staff have plenty of time to figure that out and earn a commitment from an elite quarterback.

Regardless of who Georgia ends up targeting, the Bulldogs already have their quarterback of the future in five-star Jared Curtis. So whoever ends up committing to Georgia will have a hard time seeing the field in the first place. This means that it will be challenging for Smart and his staff to find a solid QB in the 2027 class, but Smart always has a plan that tends to work out and that likely will be the case in this scenario as well.
