Georgia's big 63-3 win over FCS Tennessee State may have been expected, but what was seen from the tight end position had to make eyebrows raise everywhere around the Bulldog Nation.
15 different Georgia players caught passes from four different Georgia quarterbacks, but of those pass-catchers, four of them were tight ends. In fact, the one tight end who didn't make a grab was arguably Georgia's best, Lawson Luckie.
Jaden Reddell, Elyiss Williams, Kaiden Prothro, and Ethan Barbour caught six total passes, with three of them for touchdowns. But the most exciting part? Two of those catches were for over 20 yards, and all of them were over 10 yards.
Mike Bobo scheming for tight ends is a welcome sight
For years, Bulldog fans were accustomed to seeing Georgia tight ends dominate the competition and become key difference-makers in games. That production slid significantly over the past couple of seasons, but perhaps what was seen against Tennessee State could be a sign of what's to come this season.
Georgia's tight end group is absolutely loaded, with Elyiss Williams drawing comparisons to the great Darnell Washington, and true freshman Kaiden Prothro already turning heads and forcing coaches to figure out how to get him on the field more.
It would be criminal for offensive coordinator Mike Bobo to ignore what he's got in this group, and this game, even with some limited snaps and a playbook that hadn't been entirely opened, showed what can happen when you make the defense respect what your tight ends can do other than blocking for wide receiver screens.
With Western Kentucky coming to Athens next week, Bobo needs to continue finding ways to get the ball into the hands of his talented tight ends. Seeing both Luckie and Colton Heinrich catch a few against the Hilltoppers will be another step in re-establishing Georgia as the current Tight End-U.
Elyiss Williams can be a tremendous impact player
The comparisons drawn between Elyiss Williams and Darnell Washington aren't that far-fetched. Williams has a 6-foot-7, 255-pound frame, great hands, and is an absolute concrete slab when blocking at the line. And like Washington, he showed today that he's not afraid to go vertical.

Williams is the complete package, and he'll more than likely move up the NFL Draft boards this season. He's got the size and skill set NFL scouts love to see when looking for tight ends.
But for this year, he's Mike Bobo's toy to play with, and it would serve the Georgia OC well if he'd go back and look at some of the plays Tood Monken designed for Darnell Washington. Hitting a big target like that coming off a block in the flat and letting his size and speed do all the work not only wore down opposing tacklers but also kept linebackers honest.
It's just one game, and it was against a middling FCS team, but what we saw from Georgia's tight ends in the Week 1 blowout has to bring a smile to every Georgia fan's face.
