Georgia football has been extremely busy in the transfer portal so far this offseason. They weren't one of the teams in the country that added the most players out of the portal, but they had a few positions that needed a lot of help that Kirby Smart had to prioritize.

And that's exactly what he and his staff did as they hit multiple home runs in the portal this offseason. So let's discuss the top three additions for Georgia out of the portal so far this offseason.

1. WR Zachariah Branch

The best acquisition this offseason for Georgia out of the transfer portal by far was wide receiver Zachariah Branch. Every UGA fan knows how much Georgia's wide receiver room struggled during the 2024 season, so that roup needed the most help heading into the offseason.

So what did Georgia do? They went out and got one of the top wide receivers in the country.

Branch is regarded as the most electric player in all of college football, so he should be able to immediately come in and be a star in Georgia's offense. On top of that, Branch likely will be Georgia's returner on special teams as well.

So expect to see Branch all over the field this fall and be one of the biggest reasons why Georgia's offense will improve a lot compared to last year.

2. RB Josh McCray

The hope after the 2024 season was that running back Trevor Etienne would return to Georgia for one more season. If that happened, then UGA would have had an argument for having the best duo in the country with Etienne and Nate Frazier.

That ended up not happening, so Georgia went out and grabbed running back Josh McCray from Illinois to pair with Frazier.

While McCray isn't as good as Etienne, he will be an amaing addition to pair with Frazier as his backup. That fact became even more true after Branson Robinson elected to enter the portal and leave Georgia as well.

So UGA may not have the best running back duo in the country, but there is a chance this pair will be top 10 or even top five in all of college football, which will help the offense immensely.

3. EDGE Elo Modozie

Last but not least is EDGE defender Elo Modozie, who transferred to Georgia from Army. Modozie is one of the top players in the portal at his position, so it's clear how big of an acquisition this is for Georgia.

On top of that, Modozie fills a big position of need for UGA as the entire front seven needed some more depth this offseason.

Modozie is coming off his sophomore season where he racked up 6.5 sacks at Army, so the expectation is that he will be able to flirt with that mark once again in the SEC. But the best part of all is that Modozie still has two years of eligibility remaining, meaning Georgia fans will get to watch him in Athens for two more seasons.
