One week ago Florida looked like one of the best teams in the SEC and in the country after they blew Ole Miss out in week four. The Gators were looking like one of Georgia's most difficult games this season, that is until they got embarrassed by Missouri on Saturday.
Now instead of being a team Georgia should be a little nervous to play they once again are a team that Georgia should expect to beat with relative ease.
Florida turned out to be a pretender, not a contender
Entering this week Florida had the No. 2 scoring offense in the country and just jumped into the AP Poll's top 10 rankings. They had dominant wins over Florida Atlantic and Campbell along with a solid road win at Auburn, but then they beat Ole Miss 52-28 to seemingly cement themselves as a serious threat.
All it took was one week for Florida to prove they are not contenders though because they got embarrassed at Missouri 45-17 on Saturday. Missouri is a top 25 team so losing to them on the road isn't all that bad, but losing to them in the fashion Florida did doesn't look good.
Florida is still a team that is still capable of beating Georgia, but the chances of that happening significantly decreased. The Gators finally showed they have serious flaws in their team while Georgia won their fifth game in a row by at least 24 points.
We'll find out just how good Georgia is before they play Florida because they have to play Alabama on the road this weekend, but Florida has to play at Texas before they play UGA so they could suffer another loss before this matchup.
Georgia and Florida will play on Oct. 31 in Atlanta. As of now Georgia would probably be a comfortable favorite, but that doesn't mean Florida can't win this game. They however looked like a shell of themselves this week, and once a team shows some major flaws in the SEC there is a chance they could end up struggling the rest of the season.
Missouri might be a more difficult game for Georgia than Florida
Florida will still be a difficult game to win, but as of now they may not be as challenging to beat than Missouri. Not only is Missouri the team that just handed Florida their embarrassing loss, but they have been a solid team all season.
The Tigers are 4-1 after beating Florida with their one loss coming on the road at Mississippi State by seven points. Mississippi State is 4-1 as well after losing to Alabama, so that isn't a bad loss by any means.
Georgia doesn't play Missouri until their third to last game of the season on Nov. 14. Missouri will face Ole Miss and Texas before then, so Georgia will learn just how good this Missouri team is before they play them. Missouri however will not be an easy game to win regardless of what happens the rest of the season and they proved that with their dominant victory over Florida.
