Georgia football has had arguably the greatest recruiting run in the history of college football over the last nine days. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have earned a whopping eight commitments dating back to Sunday, June 22.

While all eight commits are massive for the program, the latest is by far the greatest for the program. Four-star defensive lineman PJ Dean announced his commitment to Georgia on Monday, which capped off this impressive run that UGA has been on. While Dean isn't the highest ranked commit Georgia has earned during this stretch, he is the commit that moved Georgia up to the No. 1 team ranking according to Rivals.

Georgia now holds claim to the No. 1 recruiting class in the country

About a month ago the Bulldogs were well outside the top 20 in the 2026 team recruiting rankings. But that is when Georgia began their steady climb that now has them sitting at No. 1 in the Rivals team recruiting rankings.

The USC Trojans have been the consensus No. 1 team in the recruiting rankings for a few months now, but that had to do with the Trojans having a lot more commits than every other program in the country. So it was just a matter of time until other teams caught up to them like Georgia just did.

Georgia unfortunately does not have the consensus No. 1 class in the country as both 247Sports and On3 have UGA as the No. 2 class behind USC. But the Bulldogs could move past USC on both sites with just one more commit, assuming USC doesn't add anyone before then.

But for now, Georgia fans can celebrate having the No. 1 class on Rivals while knowing it is likely just a matter of time until they move past USC on the other sites as well.
