That one time! This is what could be in play for the No. 9-seeded Georgia Bulldogs when they take on the No. 1-seeded Oklahoma Sooners on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the 2026 SEC Softball Tournament. Georgia advanced past No. 8 LSU on Wednesday night, 7-3. While Georgia did not beat Oklahoma once during their trip to Norman only a few weeks ago, one player is feeling very confident.

After the game on Wednesday, pitcher Randi Roelling went there when speaking with Dari Nowkhah.

"I'd say it's hard to beat a team four times. What he says is, 'How many times you hit? Like, that's in your favor.' It's in our favor, and we're gonna go out and take it. Go out and take every game that we have, and we want it. I think it's hard to beat a team four times, and we want to do it. We want it, and our team does it."

Roelling just gave Oklahoma fans even more bulletin-board material while sitting next to her manager.

Skipper Tony Baldwin may love his player's confidence, but it is a tall ask for the Bulldogs on Thursday.

Randi Roelling remains confident No. 9 Georgia can upset No. 1 Oklahoma

On the season, Georgia is 37-17 overall and 12-12 in SEC play. The Bulldogs have won three games in a row and are 6-1 in neutral-site games this year. Unfortunately, three of their seven road losses on the campaign came at the hands of Oklahoma from April 24-26. The Bulldogs lost 10-2, 3-1, and then 6-5 over that span. They have only lost one game since. That was by one run at home to Florida, 10-9.

So far this year, Roelling has been a strong pitcher for UGA. She boasts a 17-9 record in 24 starts over 31 appearances with a 2.90 ERA. Opposing hitters are batting .232 against here with 130 strikeouts to 118 hits. While Roelling may be brimming with confidence, baseball is a team sport. Oklahoma remains the preeminent program in the sport of college softball, and OU is dangerous...

Ultimately, Roelling is right that the Georgia players need to approach this game with the utmost confidence. Otherwise, how else are they going to clip Oklahoma in Lexington on Thursday night? Nowkhah may have baited her into poking the bear a bit, but her response should fire up UGA fans. Of course, there is a strong possibility this ends up coming back to haunt the Georgia players big time...

For now, Georgia has to take it one pitch at a time and hope for the best when taking on the Sooners.
