Saturday had a chance to be one of the greatest nights in Auburn football history. Not only would a win against a top 10 Georgia team have been reason enough to celebrate, but the Tigers would have done so on the night they retired Cam Newton's jersey. Unfortunately for Auburn fans, Georgia did what they always do and beat the Tigers 20-10.

Georgia defeats Auburn after historically bad start
Georgia's win Saturday night makes it nine straight victories against the Tigers. It truly does not get more dominant than that.
Beating Auburn will always feel really good, but the manner in which Georgia pulled this victory off Saturday night made this win feel even better.
Auburn was the far better team the moment the game began. Their offense was moving the ball at will and Georgia's defense had no answer for them. Georgia's offense was also struggling just as much as they only ran 11 plays during the first 28 minutes of the game. But then the controversial moment at the end of the first half occurred that everyone will be talking about, and this moment finally swung things in Georgia's favor.
Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold ran the QB sneak from the 1-yard line in an attempt to take a 17-0 lead. Instead he fumbled the ball which Georgia recovered which ultimately breathed new life into UGA. Auburn fans will say Arnold scored (and he very well might have) but there was no going back.
From that moment it was all Georgia. The Tigers didn't score the rest of the game and the Bulldogs went on to score 20 unanswered points en route to their 20-10 victory.
Defeating Auburn really isn't that big of a deal anymore for Georgia anymore because they do it so often, but winning after Auburn had total control of the game for nearly 28 minutes makes it feel that much better. And the fact that all of this occurred on the night Cam Newton's jersey was retired makes this win one of the most memorable in this rivalry's history.
