Recruiting is everything, especially in southeastern college football. With the Penn State Nittany Lions firing their former long-time head coach James Franklin after an 0-3 start to Big Ten play, one by one, top-flight recruits are de-committing from Penn State. This includes four-star edge rusher Elijah Littlejohn. He had been committed to Penn State since June, but just re-opened everything.
Littlejohn had 30 official offers, taking official visits previously with Penn State and Georgia Tech over the summer. With other notable teams like Ohio State potentially looking to capitalize on Penn State's downfall, Georgia is incredibly smart to get him to Athens at this stage of the game here. Ole Miss at Georgia is arguably the biggest game of the weekend, and Littlejohn does not want to miss out on it.
Littlejohn just announced over on X that he will be in attendance for Ole Miss at Georgia this Saturday.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Littlejohn is the No. 17 player from North Carolina, the No. 35 edge rusher in his class, and the No. 386 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Georgia showing a real interest this time around in the native Charlottean is huge for them. It is not just about getting a player that was committed to Penn State, but it may help prevent him from going to a rival.
This is a little bit about Ohio State, and much more about Georgia Tech sweeping in to get him now.
Georgia has to take advantage of Elijah Littlejohn coming to Athens
Look. If he decides that the University of Georgia is not for him, that is totally fine. What is important is that Georgia cannot afford players like this to open up their recruitments and potentially venture to places like Ohio State or Georgia Tech. For Ohio State, this is a team that regularly competes with Georgia for national championships. With Georgia Tech, do not let a bitter in-state rival get better...
If Georgia wins and Littlejohn has a good time, he may end up flipping to the Dawgs before National Signing Day. Should the Dawgs fail to get it done at home vs. Ole Miss, that could lead to him continuing to take his talents elsewhere. Again, this is all about seeing what was once not available potentially coming back on the market. Charlotte is not that far from Athens as it is to State College.
In the end, we know that Littlejohn prioritizes playing in a cool, fun, home environment. What Georgia has is on the same plane as what makes Penn State so special, regardless of if the Nittany Lions downturn under a new coaching regime. Georgia needs to use its awesome home advantage to keep prospective recruits like Littlejohn intrigued enough to maybe want to come here. Saturday is coming.
For now, Georgia has to take advantage of other teams firing their coaches midseason in recruitment.
