Jaw-dropping catches haven't stopped for Georgia superstar George Pickens. Despite recent criticism from Richard Sherman and others for his performance against the Detroit Lions, Pickens is averaging 15.1 yards per catch and has eight touchdowns this season, both of which are in the top tier in the NFL. And with CeeDee Lamb injured, the Cowboys will need Pickens to make several highlight reel plays in each game ahead.
Dallas needs to win out and get some help from other teams to make the playoffs, but if they do, Pickens and his connection with quarterback Dak Prescott will play a key role. Not many give the Cowboys much hope, but they miss out on what Pickens wants to prove to himself and to his critics.
Pickens has support of his head coach
Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer made it clear that he is a firm believer in Pickens and what he brings to the Cowboys.
"I love watching the guy play football. I’ll just kind of leave it at that. I think the guy has more fun playing football than most people," Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer said in an interview with heavy.com. "I think when we do that, I think that’s usually a recipe when you’re as talented as he is that’s why he can impact games the way he does.”
After an amazing three-game performance with 144, 146, and 88 receiving yards, Pickens now isn't allowed to have an off game. He thrives off pressure like that and it will not surprise any long-time observer of this former Bulldog that Pickens will jack his game up against the Vikings. Will Sherman and others eat their words on his "effort?" Will Pickens torch the Minnesota defense as an on-the-field statement of his commitment?
No one knows until the game is played, but tune in to see the former Georgia superstar hopefully turn in an amazing game and performance.
