Georgia Tech has one clear advantage over Georgia football

Will this be enough of an advantage that could cause Georgia Tech to beat Georgia?

There is a reason Georgia football is a massive favorite over Georgia Tech for Friday night's game, a 19.5 point favorite to be specific. And that is because they have advantages all over the field.

Georgia's defense is far better, Carson Beck is the best quarterback and Kirby Smart is the far better coach. So when you put all that together, you get a game at home where Georgia is predicted to win by nearly three touchdowns.

However, there is at least one part of this game that does benefit Georgia Tech over the Bulldogs.

Two extra days off

Last week Georgia beat UMass on Saturday, which gives Georgia one less day of rest compared to a normal week. Georgia Tech on the other hand beat NC State last Thursday. So that means the Yellow Jackets have two extra days of rest heading into this game.

Will this benefit Georgia Tech enough to pull the upset off? Likely not because all of the things that favor Georgia will outweigh this small advantage. But these extra days of rest could allow the Yellow Jackets to make this game a lot closer than Georgia fans may want.

19.5 points is a lot, especially in a rivalry game. Just last season Georgia only beat Georgia Tech 31-23 when the Bulldogs were a massive favorite. So 19.5 points does seem like a lot and will be challenging to cover knowing Tech has all of this extra rest compared to Georgia.

But as mentioned, this won't be enough of a benefit for Georgia Tech to win this game. Georgia will have a rowdy home crowd behind them that will favor Georgia along with all of the other advantages on the field. So even though the Yellow Jackets may cover the spread on Friday night, a loss by Georgia still feels very unlikely.
