About a month ago Georgia's matchup with Georgia Tech was looking like it could be one of the biggest games in this rivalry's history. The Yellow Jackets were undefeated and a top 10 team in the country and Georgia was beating every team in their path after their early loss to Alabama.
But then the last month occurred and Georgia Tech collapsed. They have now lost two of their last three games with their lone win coming against a one win Boston College team by two points. And while Tech was struggling Georgia has only gotten better.
Vegas oddsmakers have been paying attention to these trends and they made sure to reflect what they've seen in their spreads for this matchup.
Georgia vs Georgia Tech spread continues to grow
As of Wednesday afternoon, Georgia is now a 13.5 point favorite over Georgia Tech according to FanDuel Sportsbook. This number has increased by a few points already from where the line originally opened about a week ago.
13.5 points is a lot to be favored by in a matchup featuring two ranked teams. It is also a lot when the teams records this season only differ by one loss. But Vegas recognizes how bad Georgia Tech has been playing recently and how good UGA has looked, so they made sure to reflect that in their line for this game.
Georgia does need to be careful though because they were favored by more last year before playing Georgia Tech. And no one needs to be reminded about how close the Yellow Jackets were to pulling off the stunning upset. Georgia fans however would argue that this year's team is much better than last year, so even though the spread is a lot smaller it feels even more unlikely that Tech will win this game.
Kickoff between Georgia and Georgia Tech is scheduled for 3:30 pm EST on Friday, Nov. 28.
