There aren't many accomplishments that Georgia has left to accomplish during the Kirby Smart era. The Bulldogs have won two National Championships, a couple SEC titles and have won just about every award imagineable.

There is however one thing that no UGA quarterback has accomplished under Smart, but Gunner Stockton has a chance to be the first this weekend.

Gunner Stockton could pull off major accomplishment Saturday vs. Alabama

The one hurdle that Smart has not been able to overcome during his tenure is Alabama. Smart so far has only beaten the Crimson Tide one time when Georgia won their first National Championship under Smart, unfortunately that means he has lost to Alabama a whopping six times.

But this Stockton has a chance to re-write history by becoming the first quarterback under Smart to beat Alabama in his first game as the starter.

Stetson Bennett famously is the one quarterback who has beaten Alabama under Smart, but it took him three tries to do so. So Stockton has a chance to one-up arguably the greatest QB in Georgia history by beating the Crimson Tide in his first attempt.

Stockton is a little lucky compared to the rest of the QBs Smart has coached because he is the only player to start against Alabama at home. So that will make accomplishing this major a feat a little easier.

But this Alabama team is just as strong and talented as they've been in the past, so winning on Saturday will be a huge ask even if the game is in Athens. But there are a lot of reasons for Georgia fans to be hopeful entering this game with the biggest of all being the impressive play from Stockton this season.

Stockton will still have a lot to prove before he is regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in Georgia's history, but a win against Alabama would certainly help him enter that conversation.
