Georgia football quarterback Gunner Stockton spoke to the media for the first time on Tuesday after practice. He was asked about a lot of different things related to his progression, the offense in general and the quarterback competition he and Ryan Puglisi are in. But another thing that came up that isn’t surprising at all is his thoughts on Carson Beck’s decision to transfer to Miami.
Stockton didn’t share much on the subject, but he did say Beck never told him anything before he announced his decision. This response from Stockton however caused a stir among the college football media, with some calling his response a “sly parting shot.”
But when watching the entire response Stockton gave in the below post, it’s clear that he wasn’t taking a shot at Beck at all.
Here’s the full exchange between Gunner Stockton and @RadiNabulsi from last night.

Not exactly as nefarious as it’s made out to be here. https://t.co/YifwxFwYnB pic.twitter.com/XZDv574PT4
Gunner Stockton has officially moved on
It’s impossible to know exactly how Stockton feels about Beck’s decision, but in all honesty he’s probably excited that he left because it’s allowing him to compete for the starting job now. But he may be a little let down internally that Beck didn’t tell him his decision ahead of time.
But this response from Stockton gives no inclanation that he is upset at Beck in any way. Stockton did make a funny comment when he acted like he didn’t know where Beck transferred to, but that’s hardly a shot at all.
All Georgia fans probably want to know what their relationship has looked like since Beck left, but unfortunately that is something fans will never know. But it seems like Stockton has nothing negative to say about Beck, which is not surprising at all. Stockton is focused on preparing for the season ahead, and Beck now has no impact on his development. So the less Stockton thinks about Beck the better.
