Gunner Stockton did not get invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony, and that is bad news for the rest of the country. The Georgia quarterback absolutely had the credentials to receive an invite to the Heisman ceremony, but the voters determined he wasn't good enough this year to deserve that honor.

However, when comparing his credentials to the other four finalists, it's clear that he deserved to be included.

Stockton however probably isn't too worried about being excluded. He is the type of player who cares more about his team and winning than any individual award. So while these four players are focused on the Heisman, he is getting ready to lead Georgia in the College Football Playoff, and this added motivation may be the one thing he needed to fuel him the rest of the season.

Gunner Stockton's exclusion from the Heisman ceremony is exactly what he needed

Three of the four players that were invited to the Heisman ceremony did not have as good of a season as Gerogia did. Sure team success isn't the only thing that matters, but that is the ultimate goal and should play a big factor when the media votes on their Heisman winner.

Stockton led Georgia to a 12-1 season and SEC title, Jeremiah Love, Diego Pavia and Julian Sayin however were unable to match that success. So while those three players are all very good, they weren't as good as Stockton in the most important stat, winning.

This disrespect however is the best thing that could have happened to Stockton. He will be able to use that to fuel him and the rest of the team for their entire playoff run which could see them play both Sayin (Ohio State) and Fernando Mendoza (Indiana).

So the rest of the country better watch out, because an angry Stockton is the last thing anyone should want to see.
