Out of all the teams Georgia could have played in the SEC Championship game, Alabama likely was their first choice. This may come as a bit of a surprise because of the lack of success against the Crimson Tide over the years, but Georgia is a team full of competitors that want nothing more than to change the trajectory of this rivalry.
Alabama's dominance is all anyone is going to want to talk about this week heading into this matchup, but Gunner Stockton isn't worried about it at all. In fact, he thinks Alabama's past success will have no impact on their matchup this weekend in Atlanta.
“Everyone knows the history of Georgia and Alabama and it’s there, but they can’t transfer a win or a loss to this game.”

Gunner Stockton discredits Alabama's success against Georgia
Just how dominant has Alabama been over Georgia? The Crimson Tide have won nine of the last 10 meetings which includes a 7-1 record against Georgia during Kirby Smart's tenure as head coach. So it really is impossible to be more dominant than that, and knowing how great Smart has been at Georgia really makes this stat surprising.
But Georgia's one win against Alabama under Smart came in a rematch after a loss earlier in the season. During the Bulldogs first National Championship season they actually lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship game, but they rebounded in the best way possible by beating them in the National Championship game. So it could work in Georgia's favor that Saturday is a rematch from a loss earlier this season.
Regardless, Stockton isn't letting his failures or the program's poor record against Alabama impact his preparations for this game. Even if the college football world believes Alabama will win again because that's just what they do against Georgia, Stockton doesn't think that will have any say in who wins on Saturday.
So if Georgia's leader is entering this matchup with this kind of mindset then the rest of the team likely will as well, and that is exactly how Georgia needs to feel before facing their biggest nemesis.
