Everyone by now knows that the Georgia Bulldogs have become a pipeline for players to the National Football League. Every year Kirby Smart and the Dawgs send several players to the NFL where they have gone on to become solid contributors to some of the league's best teams.

However, nobody has really noticed the level of coaches they have produced into the NFL. That is, until this February. With Todd Monken now being hired by the Browns and Mike Macdonald winning a Super Bowl with the Seahawks, NFL fans have to take notice of the rise of assistants at Georgia.

Georgia's Ability to create Star Coaches is not by accident

More than most college teams, Georgia plays a style that is extremely similar to NFL teams. For decades, Georgia has been known to follow close to the style that translates to the pro level. It can be seen with the offense having a preference to run the football and a stout defense that focuses on the line of scrimmage. Likewise, the coaching staff has been made to run a similar way.

Todd Monken's time at Georgia is by far the most memorable of the three former assistants now head coaches in the NFL. Monken was a key contributor to Georgia's back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022. Before Georgia, Monken had some stints as offensive coordinator in the league, but he really gained speed and attraction by the league while in Athens.

Fans tend to forget that Brian Schottenheimer was once an offensive coordinator in Athens too. Though it was a rather uneventful season, Schottenheimer had a one-year stint at Georgia being the OC while also coaching the quarterbacks. It was after coaching guys like Nick Chubb and Sony Michel that Schottenheimer got the opportunity to coach at the pro-level again and has not looked back since.

Lastly, and the one everyone has talked about, is Mike Macdonald. Macdonald gave credit to Mark Richt and the Georgia team that gave him a chance in a Super Bowl presser, and that alone shows the effect that the Bulldogs have on producing talent at the head coach position. Richt and Kirby Smart both are to thank for the pipeline that has been generated to the NFL. As more guys like Glenn Schumann start to climb the ranks, this pipeline does not look to be slowing down. In short, if you want a prolonged career in coaching, head over to Athens.
