Spring ball is officially underway at Georgia which marks the most exciting time of the offseason. Fans will finally get to engage with real football content that they want to see instead of the daily recruiting updates from players who may not even come to Georgia.

With all the good that comes from spring practice there is one big negative that occurs as it’s just a matter of time until the injuries begin piling up. Unfortunately for Georgia their injury list is already extremely long, as Kirby Smart explained on Tuesday.

Kirby Smart unloads six critical Georgia injury updates to start spring ball

Smart shared six injury updates with the media during his press conference on Tuesday. And these aren’t just any injury updates as he named six players who are already ruled out for the entire spring. This includes Drew Bobo, Jordan Hall, Gabe Harris, Kyron Jones, Zayden Walker and Carter Luckie.

Having this many players already injured is very concerning. Sure it is only the spring, but this is when players improve the most during the year. So these six players will not be able to make the same strides the rest of their teammates will.

These injuries however are even worse for Georgia because many of the players are their leaders. These are the guys who are supposed to be setting the tone for this year’s team, but they unfortunately won’t be able to have that impact.

Smart did not share the severity of any of these injuries, but most do seem pretty minor. This means they likely are just being held out to prevent further injuries that could impact their availability in the fall.

Regardless, it isn’t fun to see spring ball open up with an update like this. But football is officially back and injuries unfortunately are just part of the game.
