Georgia football was without KJ Bolden two weeks ago when they played Auburn. His status all week has been up in the air because he was marked questionable to play against Florida on Wednesday and Thursday's injury report.

New reports on Friday however are indicating that he is expected to play against Florida on Saturday.

Georgia football defensive back KJ Bolden injury update

Bolden is a projected first round draft pick in next year's NFL Draft. Georgia has depth behind him that can step up and fill in, but no one can play at the same level as Bolden. The good news for Georgia is that he is expected to play against Florida on Saturday.

Florida announced on Friday that they are going with Aaron Philo to start at quarterback. He himself is coming off an injury as well, but he is a much better passer than his backup Tramell Jones. Getting Bolden back just in time to play against a prolific passer like Philo couldn't be more perfect for Georgia.

It will be interesting to see how Bolden plays in his first game back from injury. His injury never seemed too serious since he only missed one game, but he still might not be 100 percent. He however appears to be good enough to play, but the hope is that he will play at the same level he was before he got hurt.

Kirby Smart usually is slow to bring players back from injury and will wait until they are fully ready, so that means that Bolden likely is as close to 100 percent as he can possibly be.

KJ Bolden's return might be exactly what Georgia needs

Bolden's return to Georgia's lineup is coming at the perfect time. He originally suffered his injury against Alabama three weeks ago which is what led him to miss the Auburn game. Everyone knows how poorly that Auburn game went especially on defense as they didn't have an answer for Auburn's offensive strategy.

It could just be a coincidence that Georgia's defense struggled the most this year in the one game Bolden didn't play, but they most likely struggled as much as they did because he wasn't playing.

Bolden however is making his return just in time for Georgia. The Bulldogs are about to embark on a critical stretch as they play three ranked opponents in row beginning with Florida on Saturday. Georgia is at their best when Bolden is starting on defense, so his return could be what propels UGA to get their season back on track.

Kickoff between Georgia and Florida is scheduled for 3:30 pm EST on Saturday, Oct. 31.
