Gunner Stockton is halfway through his first season as Georgia's starter, and it's safe to say he has shattered all expectations set before him. It wasn't a surprise to see the college football world doubt him entering this year after his struggles at the end of last season, but Stockton has proven that he is a legit quarterback for Georgia.
There are countless stats and data that prove this, but the greatest of all is Stockton's total QBR for this season which ranks No. 3 in the country.

Gunner Stockton has proven to be one of the best QBs in the country
So far this season Stockton has been effective both on the ground and through the air. He has completed 68 percent of his passes for 1,264 yards, six touchdowns and only one interception. On top of that he has rushed for 220 yards and six more touchdowns as well.
These stats paint a pretty good picture about how great of a player he is, but Stockton's QBR is where things really start to get interesting. QBR stands for quarterback rating and is a metric used to show how good a quarterback is playing overall. The higher the number the better the player. And Stockton at this point in the season has the third highest QBR in the country.
On top of having all of physical tools a quarterback needs, Stockton also has all of the off the field requirements needed to be a great quarterback as well. Kirby Smart spoke about this after Georgia's most recent win over Auburn as he discussed how the composure Stockton has only helps him excel in the biggest moments each game.
Even though Stockton is the No. 3 quarterback in the country when it comes to QBR, he still is not getting the respect from a national level that he deserves. This probably doesn't bother him though, and as long as he continues to play at a high level then who cares what the college football world thinks of him.
