Just what in the world was Jalen Carter thinking? That's what Georgia football fans have to be thinking right now with the start of the new NFL season here. Just six seconds into the action between the Eagles and Cowboys, Jalen Carter was ejected.

Wait, what? Yup, in a truly inexcusable act, the former Georgia defensive lineman was caught red handed spitting on Dak Prescott after the opening kickoff. The two were helmet-to-helmet talking trash at one another. However, Carter took things too far, indeed spit on Prescott and he was ejected shortly after. You've got to be kidding, Jalen:

If you watch that clip above, you've got to question just what Carter had on his mind here. He did so with the officials not far from him. He just had to know that he was going to get in trouble for this, which he did. Laundry hit the turf and he was sent to the locker room. A quick look on social media shows that people are ripping into Carter left and right.

Those are only a handful of examples of people laying into Carter. We understand that emotions are running high and that you want to get in the head of an opponent. However, there's just no excuse for what the standout defensive tackle did here.

There's no doubt that Nick Sirianni is going to let him have it as well when he chats with him next. The Eagles are the reigning national champs and this was the last thing that the franchise wanted people to focus on with the new campaign here. It was supposed to be a special night at Lincoln Financial Field, but Carter's act now has countless other headlines being written.

This has got to serve as a major learning experience for him. People are calling for Carter to be suspended for multiple games and it shouldn't come as a stunner if that happens. Might it be 1-2 games? That might be the case for Carter, who now knows he can't do this again.
