Georgia fans love all their Bulldogs in the NFL, but Jalon Walker holds a special place in their hearts. Walker is one of the few Bulldogs who plays for the Atlanta Falcons, and considering most Georgia fans are also Falcons fans they would love to see him turn into one of their franchise players.

Walker unfortunately suffered an injury during the Falcons’ practice on Tuesday. The only thing known right now is that it appears to be a lower leg injury and that he had to be carted off the field. The Falcons also ended practice immediately after he went down which is not a good sign either.

Ex-Bulldog Jalon Walker carted off with new injury during Falcons training camp

Walker won the 2024 Butkus Award at Georgia which goes to the nation’s best linebacker. He carried that momentum to the 2025 NFL Draft where Georgia fans’ greatest wish came true when the Falcons drafted him 15th overall.

The momentum didn’t stop there as he immediately made an impact on the Falcons defense. During his rookie season last year he recorded 36 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He also added two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery during his rookie campaign as well.

Expectations were growing for Walker entering his second season in the league. This year was the perfect opportunity for him to make a sophomore leap that is so common among NFL players, but this injury puts those lofty expectations on hold.

More information will eventually come out about this injury, but for now things don’t look great.

Georgia fans also witnessed the Atlanta Falcons miss out on Stetson Bennett this week

Walker’s injury isn’t the only setback the Atlanta Falcons suffered in the last week, at least according to Georgia fans. Injuries have been stacking up in Atlanta as the Falcons are now down two of their quarterbacks in training camp. To combat this the Falcons signed veteran Cooper Rush to step in at QB for the time being, but they could’ve gone after Stetson Bennett.

Bennett has one year left on his contract with the Rams, but instead of signing Rush, who has never proven himself in the NFL as a starter, they could’ve traded for and given Bennett a chance. If he didn’t work out they could’ve moved on from him when his contract expired after this season, but if he turned out to be great then he could’ve been their quarterback of the future.

Georgia fans would do anything to bring Bennett back to the Peach State, but it doesn’t look like Atlanta is interested right now.

Bennett’s future right now isn’t in jeopardy though. By all accounts he is winning the offseason battle in LA to be Matthew Stafford’s backup, but Walker potentially missing a lot of time this season due to injury matters far more. Hopefully some good news eventually comes out, but for now every Atlanta and Georgia fan will collectively hold their breath as they wait for more information.
