Georgia football ended the 2025 NFL Draft with 13 Bulldogs being selected, which is second most this year behind Ohio State's 14. With so many UGA players selected in the draft, it's easy to find a lot of reasons to celebrate and be excited about how Georgia did in the draft.

However, the highlight of the draft for every Georgia fan was when the Atlanta Falcons drafted linebacker Jalon Walker with their first round pick Thursday night.

Most Georgia fans feel like the Falcons have straight up refused to draft former Georgia players throughout the years, and this fact upset UGA fans even more after watching Philadelphia win the Super Bowl with a roster full of former Bulldogs this past season. So the fact that Atlanta finally took a Bulldog in the first round is reason enough for this draft to be deemed a huge success.

Not only were Georgia fans extremely excited, but so too was the Falcons organization as they rolled out the red carpet for Walker upon his arrival in Atlanta this weekend.

Jalon Walker has a chance to become a Georgia legend

Walker is already a legend in the eyes of Georgia football fans, especially after this past season when he won the Butkus Award which goes to the nation's best linebacker. But Walker now has a chance to become a legend in the eyes of the entire state of Georgia now that he is a member of the Falcons.

If Walker goes on to have a successful career in Atlanta, which many think he will, it will be impossible to have a greater career trajectory. There's no better story than going from a star at Georgia, the biggest school in the state and one of the best programs in the country, to then help turning things around just down the road in Atlanta.

So if Walker has the career with Atlanta that everyone thinks he can have, he may just go down as one of the best athletes in Georgia sports history.
