Commitment date for five-star Jackson Cantwell is finally here. The No. 1 overall player in the country will decide between Georgia, Miami (FL), Oregon and Ohio State at 3:45 pm EST.
This decision seemed pretty straight forward less than 24 hours ago as UGA had all the momentum coming off Cantwell's weekend visit to Athens, but that momentum is all but gone. Reports circulated Monday night sharing that Miami is coming on strong in the final hour and has made up enough ground to have a legit chance to win this recruitment.
None of the public reports indicated what Miami is doing to get back in the race with Georgia, but it's hard to imagine it having anything to do with something other than money.
So Georgia now has a few more hours to convince Cantwell that Georgia is still the right place for him. The Bulldogs do have a lot of strong selling points they can make in their favor including elite development of offensive lineman, a recent history of winning championships and already having five-star quarterback Jared Curtis in their recruiting class.
Speaking of Curtis, he has been doing everything he can to recruit Cantwell to Georgia since he made his commitment official last week. But he isn't the only Curtis recruiting Cantwell as Curtis's mother took to social media Monday night and was urging Cantwell to choose Georgia.
@jcantwell2499 can you please do me a favor, come protect my #2! @Jaredcurtis37

Will Jackson Cantwell commit to Georgia?
Who knows how much of an impact Curtis's mom will have on this recruitment, in all likelihood it will have close to zero impact on Cantwell's final decision. But Curtis's mom speaking out like this can only help the recruiting effort, and from a fan's perspective it is really fun to see families this passionate about Georgia.
Georgia fans will find out in a few short hours if Cantwell becomes the next recruit in Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class or not, so stay tuned throughout the day because a lot could change from now until his final announcement.
