No one on Georgia's offense had a particularly good game against Austin Peay. Sure there were some players who finished with solid stats, but overall there weren't many positive takeaways after watching Georgia's offense last week. That includes Gunner Stockton who failed to make any big plays like he did against Marshall the week prior.

A lot of fans took notice of this, and that included college football analyst Joel Klatt who voiced how unimpressed he was with Stockton.

"Georgia's starting QB had to throw 34 passes against Austin Peay. If Julian Sayin or Dante Moore would've thrown 34 passes against Austin Peay, they would've scored 873,000 points."

Joel Klatt has not been impressed with Gunner Stockton

It's hard to argue against Klatt's opinion on Stockton after his game against Austin Peay. Sure Stockton completed 76 percent of his passes, but he only threw for 227 yards and failed to score a touchdown.

Stockton's unwillingness to throw the deep ball really stood out to Georgia fans against Austin Peay. There were a few times UGA had a receiver open down the field, but Stockton didn't even manage to throw the ball in their direction. Stockton either didn't even see them or was too afraid to take a chance, regardless the outcome was really concerning to see.

This judgement on Stockton however isn't totally fair. Stockton had an impressive four touchdown performance in their week one victory over Marshall which included multiple big plays down the field. No on is denying that his performance against Austin Peay wasn't good enough, but one game shouldn't define who he is as a player.

Stockton and Georgia will have their chance to show how good they can really be this weekend when they hit the road to take on No. 15 Tennessee. And if Stockton shines in a victory he will surely put an end to all of these lazy narratives calling him out.
