Josh Heupel states the obvious when it comes to Tennessee losing to Georgia

Georgia currently has an eight-game winning streak against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Georgia has dominated Tennessee for a while, with eight straight wins over the Volunteers and 13 wins in the last 15 years. The Bulldogs truly seem to have the Volunteers' number, and head coach Josh Heupel knows it.

Heupel has yet to get a win against Georgia since joining Tennessee back in January of 2021, which means he is currently 0-3 against the Bulldogs. With SEC media days going on, Heupel spoke about the losses to Georgia, and honestly stated the obvious when it came to what happened and what needs to change.

"We haven't been able to be on the right side of the scoreboard in that game," Heupel said. "That's players and coaches ultimately have to be a little bit better."

Well, clearly you haven't been on the right side of the scoreboard, or else you would have actually won some of those games. Also, of course, it is a whole team thing; it usually isn't just one or the other, but at least Heupel took some responsibility for the losses in the last couple of years; however, he isn't technically responsible for the other five straight.

Georgia has been able to dominate Tennessee for the better part of a decade and a half

With 13 wins in the last 15 years, it is safe to say that Georgia has found the secret formula to beating Tennessee. However, it is still impressive, especially with the different players and coaches that have gone through both programs, to still have that kind of success against one school.

During Kirby Smart's tenure at Georgia, he has only lost to Tennessee once, and it came in his first season. However, since then, only once has Tennessee come somewhat close, and that was back in 2022 when Georgia won 27-13. Georgia has averaged a win margin of 24.875 points over their eight-game win streak against Tennessee.

Clearly, Heupel has to fix a lot of things in order to get over the hump when it comes to Georgia, but simply saying that you haven't been on the right side of the score board and little things ned to be adjusted just doesn't seem like enough.

To get over a losing streak like that, more than just a few little things need fixing, and they need fixing now.
