Georgia and Florida football fans love to hate each other. That hatred spreads into every facet of college athletics from football and basketball to smaller sports like soccer and track and field.

But Georgia and Florida fans recently joined forces in their disdain for what their athletic departments decided to do with their annual rivalry game.

Georgia and Florida meet on the field every season on a neutral field in Jacksonville, FL. This location has become tradition for this game, but everyone would love to see this rivalry take place on Georgia and Florida’s campus at least once. These two schools had the chance to do that because Jacksonville will soon be renovating their stadium which forces this game to find a new location during the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Instead of having Georgia and Florida each host a game on their campus, they opted to find new neutral site locations for these games instead. Many Georgia and Florida fans feel this is a missed opportunity to see one of the best rivalries in college football played on a college campus, but On3’s Josh Pate believes this game will still be played on a campus later this season.

Josh Pate predicts Georgia and Florida CFP matchup

Pate released his prediction for the College Football Playoff bracket for the upcoming 2025 season, and he has predicted Florida and Georgia to play each other in the first round of the CFP. As everyone knows, the first round of the CFP is played on college campuses, so this means the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party will finally be played on a campus this season.

Pate unfortunately predicted Florida to be the 8-seed in this game and Georgia to be the 9-seed, so the Gators would be the home team that gets to host this game. But would that even matter? Georgia fans would finally get to see UGA face Florida outside of a neutral field, and in this case UGA fans would be able to invade Gainesville for one of the biggest games in the history of this rivalry.

Sure it would be better for Georgia to host this game in Sanford Stadium, but getting to face the Gators in the College Football Playoff would be a dream scenario for UGA fans.
