Kirby Smart is the best coach in college football. There are a few other coaches throughout the country that are in the same conversation with Smart, but after Nick Saban retired from Alabama the top spot rightfully belongs to Smart.

Smart is in his tenth season at Georgia, and so far his resume includes three SEC Championships and two National Championships. So knowing how great his resume is, it won't be surprising to find out that he ranks among college football's highest paid head coaches. But according to a new report, Smart is the highest paid head coach at $13.2 million per year.

Kirby Smart's contract gives Georgia fans a sense of security

The fact that Smart is getting paid this much money to coach at Georgia should give UGA fans a nice sense of security. This means that Smart is unlikely to ever leave Georgia because there aren't many places he could go where he could make more money.

But there are a few other clauses in his contract that make it even less likely that he would ever decide to leave Georgia.

“There are also $1,775,000 in bonuses available to Smart in his contract,” Brett McMurphy shared via On3.com. “That goes along with the largest buyout in the entire sport. If Georgia did want to make a change for some reason, that buyout currently sits at $105,107,583.”

So not only can Smart earn nearly $2 million in additional bonuses each year, but his buyout is the largest in the sport at over $100 million.

There's no chance that Georgia or Smart are even thinking about parting ways anyways, but it is nice to know that his contract gives Smart millions of reasons to never want to leave Georgia. And as long as he keeps winning, no one at Georgia will ever want him to leave either.
