Now that spring football has wrapped up for the Georgia Bulldogs, what can we all expect from the program in 2025? As usual, the expectations are high and Kirby Smart is hoping to have his team in the national title hunt.
The loss of Carson Beck to Miami (boo!) is going to sting a little bit, but this squad is still loaded with talent and should be in the hunt to win the SEC and make noise in the College Football Playoff. However, with new preseason rankings being posted, including On3 having UGA at No. 8, some people think that maybe other squads are set to outperform the Bulldogs in '25.
Well, don't let any of these rankings bring you down. Why, you ask? Because no one knows how things are going to shape out once Week 1 gets here. In the past, Smart has made it clear he could care less about preseason rankings - Bulldogs fans should feel the same.

Georgia's preseason rankings will mean nothing once Week 1 gets here
“I don’t feel like we’re familiar with it because we just don’t pay attention to it,” Smart said last offseason, according to Dawg Nation. “I’ve never honestly paid any attention to it, and we don’t talk about it as a team. So the expectation is we’re going to develop and worry about today’s day, and really, we don’t think about that.”
Smart has consistently used similar language to the quote above when talking about preseason rankings. Think it's going to be a distraction for any of the guys inside of the locker room? Not a chance at all, as Smart and his staff make sure their playmakers are focused on the task at hand.
Last season, the Bulldogs went 11-3 and lost in the Sugar Bowl to Notre Dame, the eventual runner-up to Ohio State. With Beck down in Coral Gables, the expectation is that Gunner Stockton will take over the offense, although Ryan Puglisi is hoping to have something to say about that.
The fact of the matter here is that it's still April. Nothing is going to matter until late August arrives and the season opens up. Then in September and October, people can focus a little bit more on the rankings, but this sure is something Smart and his standouts aren't going to be too worried about.
