Kirby Smart and the Georgia football staff are hard at work on the recruiting trail this week with Georgia on their second bye week of the season. It is always interesting to see who the staff is visiting in person because that is our best indication as to which targets Georgia is most interested in.

But it is especially telling who Smart visits because one would think he would go visit the most important recruit Georgia wants. And that's exactly what Smart did this week as he went to visit with a talented linebacker currently committed to a different SEC school.

According to On3, Smart was in this week to visit and recruit four-star linebacker Christian Gass. Gass is one of the best linebackers in the country, and is the No. 204 player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 21 linebacker in the country and the No. 30 player from the state of Georgia.

Gass has been committed to Tennessee since July 20, but he still has been showing some interest in Georgia since then. Gass took an unofficial visit to Athens on Sep. 7, which is about a month and a half after he committed to Tennessee. So that right there tells you he has had even just a little interest in UGA even though he is in the Vols recruiting class.

Gass however has taken two unofficial visits to Tennessee this fall after his Georgia visit, so it does look like he is still locked in with Tennessee. But that isn't stopping Smart from going after him.

We'll have to wait and see if Smart and his staff are able to complete this flip or not. At this point it seems unlikely, but crazier things have happened, so maybe Smart can pull off some magic as this recruiting cycle comes to an end.
