Kirby Smart, Georgia poach assistant coach from blue blood program

The early part of the offseason is always when the most coaching changes occur. Georgia football is not immune to those changes as they regularly lose staff members almost ever offseason because of how successful they are.

When that occurs, Georgia obviously needs to go out and get new staff members to replace them. So Georgia fans are also more than used to seeing Kirby Smart steal coaches from other programs as well.

That is exactly what happened on Wednesday as Matt Zenitz with 247Sports reported that UGA is expected to hire Bryson Allen-Williams, who is the assistant linebackers coach at USC.

Georgia has found the newest member of their coaching staff

It has not been reported what role Allen-Williams will have on Georgia’s staff, but it is more than likely it will be on the defensive side of the ball, particularly with the linebackers. That is where his experience is at as a coach, and that is the position he excelled at during his playing career.

Allen-Williams was originally from Georgia, but he played his college ball at Sourh Carolina where he had an excellent career. He appeared in 49 games which includes 22 starts and throughout his career with the Gamecocks, he totaled 176 total tackles including 27.5 tackles for loss.

Combining the fact that Allen-Williams had a great playing career, is from Georgia and that he has a little experience as a coach makes him a great option for Smart to add to his staff. Time will tell how much of an impact he ends up having at Georgia, but Smart doesn’t just hire anyone on his staff. They have to be the best of the best with a lot of potential, so clearly Smart sees something special in him.

So watching Allen-Williams’ career the next few years is going to be very exciting.
