It has been a good day in the recruiting world for the Georgia Bulldogs. They may have bigger fish to fry in just a little bit when they take on the Alabama Crimson Tide under the bright lights Between the Hedges. However, you only get to have big marquee games like this if you take care of business on the days you are not playing anybody. Because Georgia recruits so well, it will always have a chance.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m. ET on Saturday evening, three-star interior offensive lineman Kyson Mallard Committed to the G. According to the 247Sports Composite Index, he is the No. 24 interior offensive lineman in his class, the No. 44 player from Georgia and the No. 402 overall prospect for 2027. Mallard hails from Albany and stars for regional power Westover. He was not the last guy to commit...
Not to be outdone, Georgia picked up another commitment in the trenches with four-star offensive tackle Kelsey Adams putting pen to paper. In the 247Sports Composite Index, Adams is the No. 7 offensive tackle in his class, the No. 7 overall player from Georgia and the No. 60 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting cycle. What is the significance of these two offensive linemen from in-state committing to Georgia now?
Georgia secures two commitments from offensive linemen in-state
Let's make one thing totally clear. Georgia does a phenomenal job of recruiting all over the gridiron. Offense, defense, special teams, it does not matter. You are either elite or you are not! By targeting and landing two players of note in-state like Mallard and Adams, it sets the tone for what Georgia wants to be in the trenches in the coming years. They want guys who want it and who want to be here.
Figuring out if a player is going to pan out coming out of high school is easier said than done. By landing both Mallard and Adams, Georgia is making it a point once again to invest heavily in its local product where it matters most. Even though offensive line coach Stacy Searels is often under fire for his inconsistent in-game coaching, he does seem to have a keen eye on recruiting talented linemen.
In the end, it may take a few years before either of these guys sets foot on the field in a game of consequence. Georgia's greatest strength as a football program is its depth, and that is because of great, consistently strong recruiting efforts by Smart and his staff. Again, not every high school star you give a scholarship to is going to pan out, but you have to applaud Georgia landing both guys here.
For now, let's sit back and try to enjoy everything that Saturday night plans to give us up in Athens.
