One of the more unfortunate stories for Georgia football last season was when wide receiver Colbie Young was suspended for the season after he was involved in a domestic incident off the field. Young ultimately was able to work through his case without any serious punishment, but he only played in five games all season. On top of that, he was unable to practice with the team last year as well.

Kirby Smart took to the podium on Tuesday as Georgia is kicking off spring ball, and Young was one of the players he was asked about. And the update shared by Smart is great news for him and all of Bulldog nation as Young is officially back with the team and practicing in a full capacity this spring.

“Colbie (Young) is with us. Colbie is cleared and he’s going to be practicing with us," Graham Coffey with Dawgs Central shared.

What does this mean for Georgia?

Young being reinstated is massive for Georgia's wide recevier room that struggled so much last season. Smart already went out and added a lot of the talent to the roster this offseason including Zachariah Branch and Noah Thomas out of the transfer portal as well as five-star true freshman Talyn Taylor. So adding Young to this already stacked wide receiver room will only make this group that much better.

Before being suspended for the rest of the 2024 season, Young had accumulated 11 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns. However, Young more than proved himself in the two years prior as he combined for 79 catches for 939 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022 and 2023.

Based on these stats alone, it is clear how impactful Young will be next season for Georgia. And now that he is a full participant in practice again, he will be able to shake off any rust this offseason before the regular season begins.
