One of the top players Georgia landed in the Transfer Portal this offseason was Army EDGE Elo Modozie. In fact, Modozie was ranked as one of the top EDGE transfers in the entire country.

Modozie is definitely someone Georgia football fans will be watching closely because everyone knows UGA's success typically begins with dominance in the trenches on defense. So the hope is that Modozie will be able to continue that success this fall.

Kirby Smart spoke about Modozie during SEC Media Days, and it's clear how excited Smart is about his future in Athens.

“People are going to know that name before the year is over, and I’m sure he’s going to get people to pronounce it the right way,” Smart shared via dawgnation.com. “He’s a tremendous kid, he’s a hard worker, really good athlete, and we’re looking forward to watching him flourish in this system.”

Modozie spent his first two seasons of college football at Army. He struggled to see the field much during his freshman season, but last year as a sophomore he quickly became one of the top EDGE defenders in the country.

During the 2024 season, Modozie recoreded 34 tackles which included a whopping 6.5 sacks. That level of production is something Georgia could always use in the trenches on defense.

The big question surrounding Modozie is how his game will transfer to SEC football. There's no reason to be worried that he will struggle to adjust to higher level of football, but that is a legit concern surrounding every player making the jump from a lower level of football to the SEC.

But according to the above statement from Smart, no one should be nervous because Modozie looks to be in line to have an impressive season with Georgia this year. And who knows, maybe Georgia will be lucky enough to have Modozie in Athens for two years.
